A Caley iron at address on a links fairway

Good drive. Then another recovery shot.

You've found the fairway. There's a clear shot into the green. Then you catch it off centre and watch it finish short. You're reaching for another club before you've even got there.

When you're choosing new irons, those shots matter. You want help on the imperfect strikes, as well as a club you enjoy when you catch it clean.

That's why forgiveness belongs on your shortlist. So do the shape behind the ball, the shaft and the chance to try the club yourself. Here's how Caley measures up on the details you can check.

What to compare

Put the details next to each other.

A familiar badge can be reassuring. So can knowing exactly what you're buying. Here's how to compare a Caley stock set with another set on your shortlist.

What's in the bag matters

A choice built around your game.

Some days you find the middle. Some days you don't. The 01's broader, hollow-body head is designed for forgiveness, making it a useful starting point if off-centre strikes are your frustration.

If you prefer a shorter blade and thinner top line, the 01T gives you a more compact option. You can choose the look you enjoy behind the ball as well as the help you're looking for. Both are £549, so the decision starts with your game.

Patrick had another set in mind.

“Was looking at the P790s but thought I'd give these a punt and so glad I did. Actually prefer the look of these and feel amazing.”

The free bit

£154 of kit you don't pay a penny for.

Order a stock 01 or 01T set and an 01X Utility Iron and a Caley towel go in the box with it. No code, no hoops. The set price doesn't move.

The 01X is the club for long approaches, par 3s and tight tee shots. Easier to launch than a long iron, with a UST Recoil graphite shaft. It sells for £139 on its own.

Stock 01 and 01T sets only. Custom builds aren't included. Runs while the end-of-season offer lasts.

Commitment to quality

Designed in Scotland. Sold direct.

Ryan Atha founded Caley in Edinburgh in 2019, fed up with overpriced, overcomplicated club buying. So he built the fix: premium irons, the same quality components as the big brands, sold direct.

Our custom sets are hand-built by Stephen, our master club builder, in a workshop just outside North Berwick on East Lothian's golf coast. Decades in the trade, and an eye for every detail most people would miss. The stock sets on this page are a separate option.

Straight answers

Good questions.

The things golfers ask us most before they order.

Rather ask a human?

Email hello@caleygolf.com. A real person replies within 48 working hours, Monday to Friday.

Are these the same as a big-brand set?

They share familiar construction and component choices with parts of the wider iron market. That doesn't make every set identical. Compare the specifications and choose the head and shaft that suit you.

Are stock sets hand-built in Scotland?

No. Caley is Scottish owned and the irons are designed in Scotland. Stephen hand-builds our custom sets outside North Berwick. That's separate from the stock sets shown here.

Is the 01X really free?

Yes. Every stock 01 and 01T set comes with an 01X Utility Iron (£139) and a Caley towel (£14.99). That's £154 of kit, and the set price stays the same. No code needed. Custom builds aren't part of the offer.

01 or 01T, which one's for me?

If you're a mid to high handicap, newer to the game, or just want the most help on mishits, go 01. If you're mid handicap to scratch and strike it fairly well, the 01T gives you a more compact look and more shape.

Still unsure? Tap your handicap above the sets and we'll point you the right way. The 60-day test covers you either way.

How does the 60-day 7-iron test work?

Try the 7-iron for up to 60 days from delivery. Keep the other clubs and free gifts unused, with their protective covers intact. Contact us before returning the complete set and gifts. Return postage is yours to pay. Refund or store credit depends on the applicable purchase terms; sale items are eligible for store credit under our published policy.

What's a hollow-body iron?

The head is hollow behind a thin face. The face flexes at impact for more ball speed, and the weight sits around the edges, so off-centre strikes hold their line and distance better. It's the same design the big brands charge premium prices for.

Which shaft flex should I pick?

Most club golfers suit Regular. If you swing quickly, Stiff is usually the better fit. The 01 comes with KBS Tour Lite (high launch, 95g Regular, 100g Stiff). The 01T comes with KBS Tour (mid launch, 110g Regular, 120g Stiff).

Want a lighter graphite shaft, a different length or lie angle? That's a custom build, from £619.

When will my clubs arrive?

Order a stock set before 12 noon, Monday to Friday, and it's dispatched the same day. UK mainland goes via DPD for £9.99 and can take up to 2 business days. Highlands, Islands and Northern Ireland go via Parcelforce for £14.99.

Do you make left-handed sets?

Not at the moment. The 01 and 01T are right-handed only, and they come as a 7-club set, 4 iron to pitching wedge.

Can I spread the cost?

Yes. Klarna is available at checkout, alongside all the usual cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal.

Make room for a set that suits you.

Next time you're standing over an approach, you want to be thinking about where to land it. Start by choosing an iron that suits the golf you play. Compare the 01 and 01T, then give your 7-iron a proper try.
